Rare by Selena Gomez

Rare is Selena’s best work in my opinion. The tracks have the type of energy that you could either dance to or chill with it vibing in the background. I’ve spinned this a handful of times the past couple weeks and it really has fit every situation. Getting some work done on the computer, having a mini party with my girlfriend, chilling with my sister, and playing a couple runs of hades on the xbox. It’s soothing, comforting, and catchy. My only regret is not having the deluxe version of this album. No boyfriend for me.

This is a very empowering record that gives post-breakup vibes. It’s cool to see a more mature Selena after growing up watching Wizards of Waverly Place and hearing her music evolve. The production is top tier and it really doesn’t sound like anything else put out from other pop artists. The standouts for me are the title track, Vulnerable, and Crowded Room. They’re low-key melancholic bops.

I am a little disappointed that the record I bought has a few skips throughout. Even after a cleaning it still persists. That’s not something I’d take away from the actual album, but it’s still annoying nonetheless.
