Empire Cafe

Dang I really dropped the ball on that cover photo lighting. Well hopefully you can still tell that it looks pretty.

I’ve never been here before and it brought me right back to my Europe trips. You wait in line to order while looking at delicious pastries, then get a number and can choose to sit either inside or on the patio surrounded by shrubbery. It’s impressive given its location on Westheimer. Yes you can hear the cars coming and going, but at least my eyes deceive me.

With that European feeling in my bones I opted for a cappuccino and croissant breakfast sandwich. Without tip it totaled to $21 which surprised me a bit. Guess I forgot how pricey it can be over there.

Starting with the cappuccino… it was excellent. If you looked up a textbook capp, this would be it. The foam was velvety and the espresso was distinct. It hit all the notes perfectly and was great to sip on the patio and enjoy the weather. If I wanted I could have spent hours out here with how deep the mug was.

The croissant was flaky and fresh. Something I appreciated extra after my recent trip to EaDough. The filling included scrambled eggs, guacamole, cream, tomato, and salsa to add. The guac was an elite addition and paired nicely with the other ingredients. Everything played its part and the different textures/consistency’s made for a flavor bomb in every bite.
