    Brass Tacks

Brass Tacks may just be the coziest and most productive coffee shop in all of Houston. They have enclosed cubbies for petes sack. There’s a small second story, ambient lighting, an outside with plenty of tables (not all shaded), and a back room with even more space. They practically invite you to come and hang out for as long as you need.

I asked for a recommendation and was given the Vietnamese coffee with cold foam and cinnamon on top. This has become one of my favorite combos so I was excited to try and even more excited when it was ready. One note is that you have to come pick up your drinks, so if you’re far away from the bar you’ll have to keep checking in or hang out till they’re ready.

I think it’s a little unfair to this place that I’ve had the most amazing Viet coffee’s lately in Chinatown. I’m not sure I gave Brass a fighting chance. Regardless, the barista hyped it up and it’s time to delve in. I was initially surprised on the foam taking up 1/3 of the glass. However, it was frothy, delicious, and the perfect mustache creator. The cinnamon topping complimented it well. Lastly, the actual Viet coffee was smooth and tasty. I wish it was a little stronger due to the foam cutting down on that classic flavor, but not enough to harp on it. Overall a solid choice.

I’d say if you need a place to go study, hang out, or even go on a date then this is easily top 3. The coffee won’t blow you away, but it will satisfy.
